My cousin Molly, her partner John (who’s got the New Orleans connection and happens to be a badass documentary-maker), and their awesome kid Ivo are in a jam. John thought he had chronic asthma for the past ten years; Kaiser blocked his efforts to get a CAT scan, and when he ditched them for coverage elsewhere he discovered he had a lung tumor. Then it collapsed. He’s facing a bazillion dollar bill for his procedure, and $60,000 down payment. It’s really horrible and I love these people, so in the spirit of Five Dollar Friday, here’s a link to John’s fundraising page.
